What a real summary looks like — 52-min Huberman Lab episode.

52:14 Huberman Lab — "The Science of Better Sleep"

TL;DR

Huberman walks through five behaviors that dominate sleep quality: morning sunlight within 30 minutes of waking, a consistent sleep window, a temperature drop before bed, a caffeine cutoff 8-10 hours before sleep, and avoiding bright light in the pre-sleep window. Each protocol is grounded in circadian biology.

Key points with timestamps

  • 04:12Morning sunlight triggers cortisol release and anchors the 24-hour clock.
  • 11:48Body temperature must drop 1-3°F for deep sleep onset.
  • 18:23Caffeine half-life is 5-6 hours — last cup ideally before noon.
  • 27:05Blue light after 10pm suppresses melatonin by up to 50%.
  • 38:41Sleep consistency beats sleep duration for recovery metrics.

Chapters

  • 00:00 Introduction
  • 03:20 Circadian biology primer
  • 15:40 Temperature & thermoregulation
  • 25:10 Light exposure protocols

Questions & answers

Is the YouTube Summarizer really free? #

Yes — the first 3 summaries per day are free without signup. Create an account to get 30 per month free, or upgrade to Pro for 1,500/month.

What video length can it handle? #

Any length — from 30-second shorts to 6-hour podcasts. Very long videos take a bit more time but there is no hard cap.

Does it work on videos without captions? #

On the free tier we use the video's captions. If a video has none, we'll tell you. Pro subscribers can enable automatic caption generation (adds ~10 seconds).

Which languages are supported? #

We read captions in the video's original language and can output the summary in 10+ languages including English, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Indonesian, and Russian. More languages are rolling out.

Will my summaries be public? #

Guest summaries have a public unlisted URL so you can share them. When you sign in, you can mark any summary private.

Can I export the summary? #

Yes — copy as markdown directly from the result page. PDF export and Notion / Obsidian sync are arriving with the Pro tier.

How accurate are the summaries? #

We ground every sentence in the actual transcript — the AI never invents facts. If the captions are low quality, the summary surfaces that rather than hallucinating.

Can I summarize livestreams or premieres? #

Only after they finish and have captions available. For live content, try again once the stream ends and captions have been processed by YouTube.

Does this work on YouTube Shorts and playlists? #

Yes on Shorts. For playlists, paste individual video URLs — bulk playlist summarization is coming to Pro soon.

What makes this better than NoteGPT or Eightify? #

Accurate timestamps you can click, cleaner output (tl;dr + keypoints + chapters + tags), and instant conversion to mind maps or flashcards with one click. No extension required.
